New Playlist- Acoustic Sunrise, 8/12/12

Last weekend, I took a minute of from teaching to head down to the Newport Jazz Festival, one of the biggest and most renowned jazz fests in the world.  I wanted to reflect the best of my visit in this week’s acoustic playlist- enjoy!

A couple of notes: if you’re interested in hearing some of the music I heard, NPR recorded a bunch of it, and it’s catalogued here.

I wasn’t able to include my favorite set, the Bad Plus/Frisell throw down, but my biggest surprise was a singer named Becca Stevens, one of the jazz/folk/pop hybrids that are becoming more prominent in today’s scene.  Here’s my favorite tune of hers:
